MANUFACTURED
PRODUCTS
The thermolysis process creates three products: synthetic gas, oil and carbon. Of these, the most valuable is carbon.
Different feedstocks will produce different characteristics and qualities of carbon and oil. The table below indicates some examples of feedstocks that can be processed, and the products they give us.
Notes:
-
Each of the organic feedstocks will also render a bio-oil, however, this oil is thick and of low value until further refined
-
In each instance where biochar is manufactured it can be further refined to create activated carbon. The activated carbon has a higher value than the biochar, however in the process of further refining the biochar, some volume of material is lost
